Cori is a bit of a marish horse, she is okay with doing something, so long as that is what she feels like doing that day. She definitely has a unique personality as she is very judgemental of humans. Either she likes someone or she will literally just ignore them/kick them/try to bite their head off. She is also very vocal around male horses, it doesn't matter if it is a 20 year old ranch gelding. If they are within 5 feet of her, she will squeal and shift around acting as if they were abusing her.

Frankly, Charlie couldn't wait for the next break. Well, it wasn't wholly technically a break, but rather a meeting with Tatiana about the daily business, likely ending with some gossip, but when it came down to it, work. Still, it'd be nice to sit, drink some tea, lean back a moment. Mostly, he just wanted to get off his feet. He'd been thrown off in his possibly slightly too enthusiastic attempt at riding Ice, and that had been after riding Ziggy, who'd been uncharacteristically strong. He was done with them for the next few hours, if he were honest. Not to the point of exporting them, he still loved them, but the impending bruise on his left thigh didn't agree with that sentiment. Matter of fact, the majority of his left didn't agree; he could already feel aches linger and grow. He'd have a hell of a day ahead of him, and tomorrow would probably see him limping again. On one hand he hated it, showing weakness like that, inviting pity and concern and strange looks. On the other hand, he was proud of it - he may be limping, but at least it was a form of walking. More than the doctors had predicted and expected in the beginning.

He liked the feeling of beating the odds, as he had done more than once. It was just too bad King hadn't had the same ability. For him, something broken had been the end. For a moment his content, if somewhat tight expression slipped into something sadder, something darker. That expression didn't last long, though, before it turned bittersweet and then vanished. He had no direct descendants of King, but Zensure was a half-brother of his previous mount, and he had plenty of pictures and memories to make sure that King was never forgotten. Not by him. Not after all they had been through.

Charlie's eyes slid down the wall to the picture that featured most prominently - the honor lap at their last Olympics, ribbons flying, elation written large across his face, King's ears pricked forward proudly. It took him a moment to force back tears that glittered in his eyes and paste on a smile as he hoisted himself to his feet with a small but visible wince, limping a few steps to the small 'kitchen desk' as he sometimes dubbed it to check on the coffee and the cinnamon buns he'd smuggled along from home. Not that the buns would've walked away, but his coffee machine was old, ornery and when she worked, brewed the best coffee in the barn. According to his humble opinion, anyway. Satisfied with it, he poured it in two cups, glad that he could transport them to his desk without spilling. Wouldn't be the first time - he'd been rather clumsy from time to time the past year. Not that he could help it, but it got mightily annoying every now and then.

With a sigh he sat down again, lacing his hands behind his head and leaned back. Life wasn't all that bad, even if he wasn't riding half a dozen or more horses a day, training them and himself and showing his ass off in the high season. It was different, and at times equally stressful, but in the end it was also rather fulfilling. He still went to bed tired and, in essence, happy.

Tatiana had informed of a working student she may sort of have snagged - he was a little fuzzy on the details, but Tatiana was convinced the girl had it in her to become a star, which was good enough for him, and so he had offered to give her a tour. Help convince her, as it were, if she needed it... Otherwise, it was just courtesy and good customer service. Either way, they'd manage to set a date and time, which was why he was currently lounging against one of the many fences, facing at the same time the driveway and his newest acquisition. He hadn't bought a horse since Nausikaä, well over a year ago, and he had already known her. It was exciting, frankly, especially because Sunny wasn't exactly his normal type of horse - he leaned towards warmblood, preferably the sturdy types. Now he had a colt that was legs and ribs and neck and little to no fat at all. He stood out, that much was certain, especially because he didn't look at leggy or young anymore. Sunny already was fairly collected in his movements, not uncertain about the shape of his body. While Charlie wasn't sure who'd be training, riding and competing Sunny, he still had high hopes for the young cremello. One of several reasons he'd kept him intact, or was planning on it at least. After all, the poor creature hadn't even been at FA for more than twenty-four hours, and most of that time had been overnight in his stall. He hadn't been given access to his turn-out yet - better safe than sorry.

It may also be part of the reason he was early with awaiting the new girl. The dogs had gathered at his feet, the big shepherd frequently venturing inside the pasture to test Sunny's reaction, which was rather amusing to watch - a huge bundle of fur and sleek bones and muscle were surprisingly evenly matched. Then again, Penka may not have been trained as a shepherd, instinct was a powerful thing.

He was curious about this miss Maeve Argall, and if he was honest, also rather curious about her opinion of him and more importantly, the Academy. He'd added and changed a few things since he had bought the place, some ideas he had had even back when he rode here as a puny fifteen year old, and especially the individual turn-outs at the stalls were something he was rather proud of. He'd always been in favor of letting horses decide if they wanted to be inside or outside, but with close to a hundred stalls it just wasn't feasible to be so individual. He knew all the horses in the barn, yes, but there was only so much time and so much you could do. This way, at least they could step out and lay in the sun, if a horse so chose. Especially for Ozzy he was happy - the mare was growing older, and sometimes the stables were just a bit too dusty for her.

For a moment he considered getting the varnish roan to put her out to pasture as well, but he opted against it. It was nearly time, and he didn't want to be late for something like this. Frankly, he was looking forward to it. He didn't get to show off the academy nearly enough, and it was always nice to meet new, young, promising equestrians... Even if that made him feel like he was far older than his twenty-six years.

spunky and hot-headed. sunny is very confident and bold. he has a strong show presence, and very long athletic movement that is sure to win. the only slight imperfection is his attitude. he can become aggressive, and shows a lack of respect for personal space. biting has been in his history, but he is only young. with the right trainer and rider he could make a fantastic horse for anyone.

misc.

Charlie is not a local, and he'll likely never be, given that he's rather proud of his Dutch heritage, for what it's worth, but he's lived at the Academy for some four, five years in his teenage years, and the past year, so he probably is fairly well integrated. I imagine his accident, the death of his Olympic horse King's Ransom and all that it entailed and meant for him has been in the papers at some point, so locals/long time residents might know him by name. Anyway, he's a charming fella, usually fairly happy, a hard worker, stubborn, fairly clever, and sociable. Due to injuries sustained in the accident, he occasionally has seizures and the strength in his leg varies from day to day. Hasn't stopped him from riding or running Forewood Academy or its shop, though.

friends

As I said before, he can be rather charming especially to girls, look at his dimples!, is kind-hearted and caring, so I imagine he has a lot of fond acquaintances and 'superficial' friends, and a few closer confidantes

enemies

I can't offhand think about a reason why he would have enemies, except maybe a few people who are envious of his former life as prof. show jumper, but that's 'bout it. If you can come up with something, I'm probably up for it. No ideas? Well, nobody per se needs mortal enemies.

lovers

This is where it gets interesting. He is panromantic, and currently considers himself demisexual, but basically is just hesitant and doesn't much like labels. He hasn't been in many relationships before, certainly not long ones, but I'd love it if someone wanted to give him some cuddles and love ^^

boring facts of life; pets, job etc.

Charlie's the current owner of Forewood Academy and the tack shop that's part of it, been involved in it for two years, took over some eleven months ago. At the moment, he's got three horses, two of which are sport horses, and the third's a strange little mare he cares a lot about. Furthermore, he's got nearly a handful of other pets: a barn cat called Jojo, Jojo's best friend Juju, short for Juweel, a female Dachshund who's on the pill -both roughly a year old- , Penka, a fixed female Karakachan dog of five years old and his new shadow, Nobu, a Tosa male that's estimated at four years old and used to be a stray in a friend's shelter.
