Sorry I haven't been around much lately. Graduation and all the stuff that goes along with that has been killing me slowly and now I move into college in 4 weeks *cue panicking*. So, I'm leaving for a family reunion today and then straight up to warped tour. Then I have 2 days before my family leaves for vacation and then a week of training camp. I will have my laptop for some of these trips, so I'll be popping in and out, just not as active as I'd like to be.

Today was a "pony day", as Maeve liked to call it. She had the day off of work and dedicated it to spoiling her boy. He deserved it as much as she did, after a long week of hard work. Since it was warm, she spent the morning bathing her cob. While he was grazing in the sun to dry off, she weaved wildflowers into his mane and forelock, as well as her own light-brown hair. Robin Hood looked like a prince with the flowers contrasting perfectly with his shiny, dappled wolf dun colored coat. The weather was beautiful, the barn wasn't busy, and the two of them were perfectly happy.

Maeve spotted an empty pasture and led her horse over to it, abandoning her cowboy boots by the fence. To be honest, she hadn't planned on riding, otherwise she would have worn long pants. Instead she was wearing cut off denim shorts. The girl jumped up and swung her leg over him in one motion, like a swimmer getting out of a pool, and just walked around for a bit. She picked at a flower, letting the lead rope rest on Robin's neck as she guided him with her legs. They had that sort of connection, after all, Maeve practically raised him herself. They grew up together.

The two of them used to do this all the time back home. She used to climb the fence to get on her pony and they'd gallop around the field until her father called her in for dinner. The cob definitely remembered that. He had a lot of spunk in his step. Maeve felt that Robin wanted to go run wild, so she trotted him around a bit before progressing to a light, float-y canter. All she did was hold onto the end of the lead rope so her pony couldn't step on it. Before long, the two of them were galloping across the field at full pace. Maeve felt so free right at that moment. Everything felt like it was in place.

After a few times back and forth, she brought Robin Hood back down to a walk to cool him off, a grand smile still radiating from her face. She leisurely walked him around the perimeter of the pasture, his ears were pricked forward and attentive. The girl leaned forward and wrapped her arms around his neck in a hug before scratching his favorite spot that made his lip twitch a little. She smiled at the woman who seemed to have been watching, giving her a short wave as she walked her pony towards the lady.

Maeve worked her horse hard today. They both needed it, especially with show season right around the corner. They did a lot of flat work before progressing to some work over fences. Her trainer was great, as usual. She had just the right amount of toughness and softness to push Maeve, but not push her over the edge. They worked well together, the three of them, with minimal head clashing. It was usually Robin Hood that put up the fight, but he earned his apples that night without a doubt.

After a long cool down and a thorough grooming, Maeve returned her horse to his stall. She couldn't turn him out at night because he had the worst habit of escaping. At least if he got out during the day, there would be someone around to handle it if Maeve wasn't there. The girl hung her dirty, damp saddle pad inside out on Robin's stall door to dry, figuring he would be too preoccupied by his apples to steal it. She gathered up her tack and brushed the sand off of her horse's boots before moving on to cleaning her tack.

Maeve sat on the floor of the isle, leaning up against Robin's stall while she took apart his bridle to clean the pieces individually. It had been too long since she had given her tack a good scrubbing. Sure, it was just her training gear, but she had to take care of it too. Pink flashed in the corner of her eye just as she heard the clacking of boots. She looked over to see Robin's head hanging over the stall door with that mischievous little sparkle in his eye and her saddle pad being flung across the isle. That little bugger had perfect timing too because someone was just about walking past his stall. Maeve got up, scrunched her nose at her pony, and retrieved her saddle pad. "I'm sorry," she apologized, "he does that sometimes." Her Welsh accent was thick, slathered onto her words as she offered the person a small apologetic smile.

Maeve was born and raised in Swansea, Wales. Her father and uncle ran a well known cob breeding farm. The girl was home schooled before being sent to finishing school and flunking out. After that, she helped her father break and care for the horses, easing her way into the show circuits. By the time she was sixteen, she was competing all over the UK. At seventeen and a half, North Field Farms began sponsoring her as a working student, so she's been living here for around ten months now. She takes a few classes at the local college, but she spends most of her time at the barn.

Friends. Maeve is at that age where she's stuck between being an adult and being a child. She's a spectrum of personalities. When she's working, she is very professional and mature. When she's not, she's a barn rat, barefoot with a flower crown galloping her pony around the field. And then there's everything in between. Maeve is easy to talk to and easy to get along with. She's always willing to help out and is generally a great companion.

Enemies. Maeve can be a bit unpredictable at times, a real spitfire. She acts like a child sometimes, or she can act too mature for her age. The girl is a total adrenaline junkie, but also can be super mellow. Her fluid personality can give people whiplash sometimes. Sometimes she forgets to filter her thoughts and acts extremely impulsive. Her biggest pet peeve is a person who is always looking to take the easy way out.

Lovers. Maeve chooses not to define her sexuality for a number of reasons. One being that her family is very religious, so anything other than straight is bad. Another being that she doesn't see the point of trying to fit everything into boxes. She had a fling with the farm hand back home and has messed around with girls at boarding school. Nothing has been serious though, mostly just messing around. Maeve has never been in a relationship, though she isn't opposed to them. Everything is open.

Robin Hood is a spirited young gelding. He has your typical sassy pony attitude, acting much bigger than he is. In the pasture, he is social, often found grazing with the herd. He does have a habit of escaping his turnout if the gate isn’t locked properly, but he doesn’t go far. Handling wise, his owner is strict with his manners. He stands still while tied and will not drag his handler around. He is a bit nosy though, known for knocking things over and stealing things. You can’t hang things on his stall because he will break them. He loads and unloads without issues. Under the saddle, Robin is strong and balanced, requiring a confident rider. He is willing to do anything as long as the rider asks with conviction. He gets excited when jumping and has a certain sass in the show ring.
